Module 5 Reflections

So often assessments are created as an afterthought to content to be learned.  Approaching assessments as building tools for students to use to climb a personal learning ladder is a positive approach and will help support their success.  It also makes you reflect on what you're main focus of learning is and how to help them assess this as they go.

Module 2.7 Making Standards, CFQ's or formative assessement work.

The standards I found really helped me identify the wording I needed to keep content parallel with objectives within those standards.  Since my topic, Internet Safety, can grow to extremely broad, this will help keep content focuses on the basic goals.

The CFQ's bottom to top design approach helps helped me see the big picture and the destination of this unit.  For further Internete or Safety Units, I can certain begin with some of this framework, i.e. cell phone safety, communication safety, etc.

Formative assessment is like taking your temperature frequently to determine your status.  Don't wait until the patient is dying to identify a failing situation!
