Assessment
I think that student self-assessment is lacking in most classrooms. This could be one of the most powerful tools in learning if we can teach students to think about their thinking - metacognition - I hope that we can help our participating teachers learn to use it in their units.

Module 2 Refection
You can use standards, curriculum-framing questions, and formative assessments to promotes authentic learning, which encourages students to ask more questions, Students are more likely to become self-directed learners because they are interested in the answers, Students see the connections between the subject being taught and their world—it can change their whole outlook on what education is about.
Formative assessments allow us to:

3. Monitoring progress |
|
4. Checking for understanding and encouraging metacognition |

Day 1 - Reflection
I think the online environment will be very powerful if we can keep the teachers focused. I think the resources are much more accessible in the online version than they were on CD for the face-to-face.
